DUDLEY METRO

Art Track

Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council, 2022

Rachel devised the public art commissions project Art Track: Metro Public Art Programme for the Placemaking department, Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council.  The project was a one-year pilot working with artists and communities to stimulate the public imagination in the expanded practice of public art in regeneration, development and public realm improvement. The new transport network, the WBHE Metroline extension was a catalyst for creative design proposals for artworks – permanent and temporary - with the people and places of Dudley borough.  Designs by 28 artists were showcased in the exhibition Dudley Futures at Churchill Shopping Centre as part of public engagement activity which included Diversity in Design and CPD programme and a Talent Pipeline initiative with students from Dudley College and University of Wolverhampton.

Artists include: Aidan Moesby, Roo Dhissou, Mona Casey, Dion Kitson, Vanley Burke, Barbara Walker, Oliver Budd, Esther Shalev-Gerz, Gillian Allard, Georgia Tucker, NEON, Kevin Atherton, Faisal Hussain, SocioCinema, Matt Chinn, Laura Johnston
