Curation + Exhibition
WORLDS AWAY
Art, Nature & Wellbeing
Midlands Arts Centre (MAC), Birmingham, 2023
The Worlds Away: Art, Nature & Wellbeing exhibition curated by Rachel Bradley brought together artists who have been inspired by the natural world and its power to inspire feelings of belonging, mental and physical wellbeing. From rural idylls to majestic mountainsides to extreme weather events selected artworks consider a range of views from the romantic vision of nature as a therapeutic companion to a new contemporary era of climate anxiety and its enormous global challenges. With planet Earth at a tipping point artists pose questions about public access to the countryside, biodiversity and sustainability in the face of human extraction of forests, oceans and mineral resources.
